What is Lithocholic Acid？

One of the bile acids. Not directly biosynthesized from cholesterol in the liver, but a substance produced by bacterial metabolism of chenodeoxycholic acid in the intestine. Most of this substance produced in the intestine is excreted with the feces, and a very small part is absorbed and combined in the liver to appear in the form of taurolithocholic acid or glyclithocholic acid in bile. It is more toxic than other bile acids, and a large number of experimental animals can cause various obstacles to the hepatobiliary system.
