What is 2'-Hydroxyacetophenone?

Hydroxyacetophenone is prepared from phenyl acetate by the catalytic rearrangement of aluminum trichloride. It is used as an indicator for the determination of iron by complexometric titration, an extractant for precious and rare metals, and a catalyst for the polymerization of cyclopentadiene.
