Pyridine CAS number 110-86-1. The molecular weight is 79.10g/mol. Pyridine was discovered in bone tar in 1849 by Scottish chemist Thomas Anderson, who produced it in pure form by fractionation two years later. Because of its flammability, Anderson was named after the Greek word πῦρ. The structure of pyridine was determined independently by Wilhelm Korner and James Dewar.
