What is antipyrine

It is obtained by methylation and hydrolysis of 1-phenyl - 3-methylpyrazolone-5. In the dry methylation tank, pyrazolone and dimethyl sulfate were added, and the temperature was raised to 160ºC. The reaction lasted for 6h, and the heated water was boiled for 2h. 

Function of antipyrine

The methylated reactant was put into a hydrolysis tank containing sodium hydroxide solution and stirred for 3h hydrolysis at 100-110ºC. Stratify after standing,  take antipyrine oil layer and put it in the crystallization tank, dilute it with distilled water, stir it, cool it to below 10ºC, precipitate the crystal, filter it, wash it with water, and dry the antipyrine crude. Crude products with distilled water recrystallization, activated carbon decolorization, the finished product.

Application of antipyrine

Used as analytical reagent for nitric acid, nitrite and iodine (production of raw material dimethyl sulfate).
